Caitlin is a certified equine bodyworker serving the Greater Boston and Nashua areas, dedicated to enhancing equine performance and wellbeing through science-based massage therapy. Her lifelong passion for horses began at age six and has since evolved into a unique understanding of multiple disciplines and the equine industry as a whole.
With experience across a wide range of arenas: from saddle seat, hunt seat, pleasure, dressage, and gymkhana - Caitlin brings a well-rounded perspective to her practice. Starting in the local 4-H program provided Caitlin with a solid foundation in horsemanship. In college, Caitlin showed in the Intermediate hunt seat equitation division for Northeastern University. She led the team as captain for three consecutive seasons, frequently competing at both the regional and national levels. Currently, Caitlin is focused on pursuing breed level shows in the all-around events with her personal horses Trace and Petunia. Riding at such diverse levels, Caitlin appreciates all aspects of competition and equestrian pursuits from the retired school pony to the leisurely trail master to the high performing equine athlete.
Outside of riding, from managing boutique barns to working at a veterinary hospital, Caitlin has gained a deep comprehension of what it takes to help extend opportunities for any horse. Caitlin currently serves as an executive leader on the Middlesex County Horse Advisory Council, as the Massachusetts state director for the New England Pinto Horse Association, and a volunteer 4-H horse judging and quiz bowl coach. With Extend Equine Massage, Caitlin is proud to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care that helps every horse feel and perform their best.
Extend Equine Massage brings a unique, cutting-edge perspective of bodywork to our practice, prioritizing science. By holding science at the forefront of our practice, Caitlin is able to uniquely leverage biomechanics, anatomy, muscle function, and the nervous system regardless of discipline, breed, or competition level to produce reproducible and tangible improvements. Before offering a new technology, Caitlin extensively examines published research and data driven results to prioritize client wellbeing while avoiding equivocal fads. This commitment to evidence-based care ensures that every treatment is both purposeful and proven!
Caitlin earned her certification in Equine Myo-manipulative Functional Therapy at Holistic Animal Studies in 2021. This certification program is accredited by both the International Association of Animal Massage and Bodywork (IAAMB) as well as the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). Caitlin is always looking to expand her knowledge and frequently participates in webinars and workshops.
In May of 2022, Caitlin graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Behavioral Neuroscience. Her coursework included topics such as; zoonotic disease, immunology, and neurobiology. Furthermore, Caitlin holds a Professional Master of Science degree in Biotechnology with a concentration in Molecular Biology awarded from Northeastern University in 2023.
